The 5th match of the BLIA Cup was held on July 25, where National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) played against Nagoya Gakuin University (NGU). In the 1st quarter, the two teams ran back and forth, playing head-to-head, and tied the score at 24-24. At the end of the 1st half, the scores of the two teams were still stalled; NTNU led the opponent by only 1 point with a score of 43-42.

Getting familiar with the opponent's strategy, NTNU utilized a full court press and frequent substitutions. All players put their best efforts forth to take shots on the basket, and eventually widened the gap in the scores. Since the whistle sounded in the 3rd quarter, NTSU gradually gained an 11-point lead on NGU for a score of 70-59.

In the 4th quarter, NGU sought to counterattack, but NTNU’s fiery offensive mode carrying over from the 3rd quarter prevented them from succeeding in taking the lead. At the end of the match, NGU accepted their first defeat of the preliminaries with a loss of 74-89.

Zhang Jun-Ting (張俊庭) and Lin Sha-En (林劭恩) scored 18 points and 17 points respectively for NTNU. Wang Wei-Jia (王偉嘉), playing equally well, scoring 19 points for NGU.
